Shouting From the Edge: Extreme Conservativism

A "Conservative populist" is a fiction. It illuminates the same idea-set that worked children in factories, women in sewing rooms well into the night and spied on their personal lives, and gave slaves who were personal servants as gifts to American brides. Because progress and reason across the world have pushed the ideology of exploitation and privilege concealed in conservative ideas to the edge, it becomes impossible to find any Republican who isn't shouting from the margins.

"The GOP view has more to do with enemies of democracy--our allies--than with those who love freedom."

Bachmann has now publicly supported despotism over democracy. She blames Barack for the regime change of tyrants and dictators across Africa and Asian Minor--never mind their brutal oppressive policies, the beatings, jailings, and murder of their people or the billions routinely transferred to their out-of-country bank accounts. Perry's touted-jobs want to return the US to a feudalism even China is rapidly moving away from. Gingrich launched his latest rally ballon, another contract complete with book-signings. Romney wants to close the biggest deal of his life: taking over the government so he can sell off the parts, out-source the contracts, and re-direct the wealth. Herman Cain is ever the company man, apologizing for its sins, urging the team on.

Throughout history good ideas are distributed and dispersed; they radiate and spread among human societies, become a part of the advance of technology and social order that gives greater freedom to all, but the GOP is late getting the fire and wheel.

The GOP positions now stand against the social and economic progress being recognized in the rest of the world. Brasil, Canada, Nigeria, Turkey, India,(the world's fastest growing economies), and other nations all fundamentally oppose the GOP governance models, from reducing environmental regulation to establishing internal neo-colonialism under the guise of free enterprise.

Bill Clinton is right when he says no country banks progress on the GOP mantra of social cuts and lowered taxes. It's no longer a US political struggle; the GOP is out of step with the world. According to Bachmann, the GOP view has more to do with enemies of democracy--our allies--than with those who love freedom.

The last "conservative populist" was Strom Thurmond (who as a black I voted for!) Thurmond delivered services and infra-structure to individuals and towns equitably, despite his extreme rhetoric. Today's GOP rhetoric doesn't conceal good deeds, unless you seek power.
