The Beyonce Fitness Video (for Michele Barack)

I liked it! I have sent the video to friends with middle school aged students and await their critical review. The idea of a national dance-in harks back to the days when the Charleston swept New York and the country, or when swing music made busy feet and inspired the leaps of the Lindy hop.

I do wish individual students in the video had gotten more "face" time, to show their moves. (Remember the days of the Soul Train line?) The direction could have been more interesting, it has a one camera quality. It's a shame some will call this important, beneficial, deficit reducing, quality-of-life improving, fun program, "socialist." But if you dance, you know the special freedom that comes when you "move your body!"

Nobody can legislate the creative spirit or the individual urge to share in community! Kudos to Michelle and Beyonce; let's see their husbands, Barack and Jay-Z in the next video!
