We'll get to the map in a minute, but first remember: Presidential elections are about our country, and in this amazing spirit called democracy, the citizens of the country have the opportunity--and obligation--to set its course every four years. We not only change or retain leaders, but we decide how to invest in our common good: how to secure ourselves from threats, how to speak to the world around us, how to care and plan for the health and safety and education of our old and young, how to deal with our differences, how to plan for and pay the costs of these decisions.

In the American system, each state, from Mississippi to Alaska, from Delaware to Hawaii, from Arizona to Maine, has a say. Together, their collective decision, weighed by population, is the resounding cry of freedom and opportunity, of prosperity and renewal, of change and hope that guides our course and is a beacon to the world.

Now the map! To take an advance look at how the election might turn out, click the map on this great link from the Chicago Tribune. Change the results. Try different scenarios! Test your predictions. Put together outlandish combinations. A fine visual tool that is loads of fun, this map also makes real the work both teams and their parties face in the last 12 days. Go back to the map each day. On election night, match the election calls with the forecasted trends.

Honestly, this map is great fun! It gives you a personal and unique view! Where ever you live, and whoever you support, and what policies are first on your list, this map will reduce the stress as you channel your own view and determine your strategy and match wits with the pundits!
