While endorsements are simply individual announcements of support for a candidate, together they do constitute a considered judgment by people from varying walks of life. These endorsements stand in contrast to the pounding on marginal associations with William Ayers (who was once "Citizen of the Year" in Chicago, for his work on school reform) and others.

What you said in that paragraph is what I think.
A lot of second guessing people's wisdom in this campaign, but I suppose all sides are guilty of doing the same.

I am also prone to inferences based on certain attributes. Sarah Palin spoke before a crowd of about 6,000 in Maine, and said, "I feel right at home. I see a lot of Carhardt (construction worker's clothing brand) and steel toes." Her cheer leading squad wore NRA hats, camouflage, you know where this is going...

Anyway, if the old saying is true that a person may be judged by his company, then I see Obama keeps more good company than bad. Simple mathematics yields a favorable outcome.

Thanks Gregory for your careful reading, and terrific insights. You grasp my point, sometimes more implicit than direct: and that is the process, to protect the process! I'm not actually supporting Obama in this piece but trying to tone down the extremes--and the fears they trigger. Disgreements? Fine! Healthy! But a constant litany of labels, one word characterizations--these should be challenged for the sake of the process! So here's the other side! If Obama is socialist, then by logic, his supporters/endorsers must be, or all be duped! The claim crumbles when you realize a wide number of folk who would know, don't think so! Now back to the real disagreements of health care, the economy, foreign policy, energy, trade, infra-structure development, education!

An impressive list which one suspects the other side could match just as well. In fact I'm not tatally sure on everyone but most mentioned are members of the CFR and or supporters of the Global agenda. In my opinion they don't see Socialism or any system in the same light as many Americans. They speak of democracy, what form matters not. As for keeping company, all birds of the same feather regardless of party and by nature of fact. It is by their works that we shall know them. What they support, do or fail to do.

This tries to minimize the extremes by facts, to show that Obams should not be marginalized or labeled as extreme.

What puzzles me is why no one is asking candidates about how this administration is already using the Amero to pay some of our debt to China.

The Council on Foreign Relations has supported regional and global currencies designed to replace nationally issued currencies.

In an article in the May/June issue of Foreign Affairs, entitled “The End of National Currency,” CFR economist Benn Steil asserts the dollar is a temporary currency.

Steil concluded “countries should abandon monetary nationalism,” moving to adopt regional currencies, on the road to a global “one world currency.”

WND previously reported Steve Previs, a vice president at Jeffries International Ltd. in London, said the amero “is the proposed new currency for the North American Community which is being developed right now between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.”

A video clip of the CNBC interview in November with Jeffries is now available at YouTube.com.

WND also has reported a continued slide in the value of the dollar on world currency markets could set up conditions in which the adoption of the amero as a North American currency gains momentum.

I think its very sad that republicans are reduced to slinging mud at the democratic presidential candidate. Personally, I think Obama will make a fine president if he gets in. I think former great repubicans would shudder how far to the extreme right the party has been dragged by these carpetbaggers.

Blog after so-called republican blog is a diatribe of out and out hate mongering.

As for this article, frankly it isn't one and though it might contain interesting facts, it does not really belong on search warp in my opinion.

I see  your point of view. But writing--the pieces we call "articles"--can take on a variety of forms. Labeling--and limiting--anyone or thing by its form--is exactly what this "piece" is about. In essence, it is an article. It offers a premise (posed as a question), cites a long list of interesting examples/facts, each allowing the  reader to react based on his/her knowledge/response, and juxaposes this list against the words the McCain uses to describe Obama. It contrasts these words and these people to make a point.
That is, by definition, an article: its form is comparison/contrast, its facts are the narrative (the names were ordered and selected for interesting reading), and the main idea is in the initial question. Sorry you didn't find the form.

I myself have been very impressed by the fact that many current and former military men are backing Obama. Especially since Democrats aren't so prone to become involved in every squabble that pops up around the world. I see this as a sign of CHANGE--something that we need desperately and are hoping to see this time around. Thanks for a great article, Walter.
